While most experts dismiss them as a waste of time, more and more companies are administering aptitude tests these days. What are they? Aptitude tests were designed to evaluate how people respond and perform in certain situations. The standard aptitude test is most often administered when a person is applying for a job.

But aptitude tests are not nearly as scary as they may seem. Yes, if you perform very poorly on one it will likely hurt your chances of employment. But more than anything else, an aptitude test is used to determine what you are good at, what you have an aptitude for. And if the company needs someone with you particular set of skills and abilities, then you may just get the job.
