Can We Trust the Review Sites?

We are in the very fortunate position that it has never been easier to find a good quality cheap hotel in just about any corner of the world. Whether you are looking for a Yurt in Timbuctoo or Las Vegas reviews , our life is made far easier by the plethora of review sites on the internet. The concept is basic but brilliant.

Travellers post their reviews and experiences of hotels they have visited for the benefit of future travellers. A free of charge advisory service! Some of the better known sites are now trusted by millions of travellers across the board, and they are often the first port of call when trying to find a hotel in a new destination.

Some people do question whether these sites are to be trusted, but having used some of the major ones frequently for my travel (and posted quite a few myself), they do seem to be impartial. They certainly capture the essence of the hotel in all its glory. Or not as the case may be. I have shuddered when I have read reviews of some of the supposedly top class establishments.

Hotels used to be able to get away with quite a lot when travellers had to rely on the printed brochures and materials. Now they are exposed for all the world to see, good or bad, and many are having to sharpen their practises and improve their service.
